 November 17-21, 2008

 

November 17

Monday- 

·         Science- Today we did an experiment to show chemical weathering.   We will finish this tomorrow.  We also watched a video on weathering and erosion. No Homework

·         Language Arts-  No LA today we did a social studies project instead.  You should still be reading for your Newbery rept. due Dec. 15  FYI: No spelling or DOL this week or next.

 

November 18   I passed out Key Cards that the kids can sell.  The money goes towards their Chicago Trip.  Each booklet + key card is $20.  The kids earn $10 towards their trip.

Tuesday-  

Science- We finished our expieriment on chemical weather.  We also had a class discussion on earths history.  No homework

Language Arts- No spelling or DOL this week or next!  Today we filled out a graphic organizer using our notes on Penguins.  Some kids started the type 3 using the graphic organizer.  If they didn't finish today in class they will get more time tomorrow.  Read for Newbery book rept. due Dec. 15.

 

November 12

Wednesday-  No Progress Repts. today because of teacher conferences!

·        Science-  We read and answered questions about a National Geographic article called "Earth Movers".  It taught us about weathering and erosion.  All kids finished this in class so NO homework.

·         Language Arts-  We took our spelling pre-test and did DOL.  DOL test will be on Thursday so will the spelling test.  Don't forget to read for your book rept. due Dec. 15.  You also need to come up with 3 questions that are due on Friday.  I talked about a new assignment that we will doing over the next week on text structures.  At this point there is no homework with it.

November 13  Parent Teacher Conference    

Thursday-    

·         Science- No Science today

·        Language Arts- We took our DOL test and spelling test. Don't forget the activity and bookmark are due tomorrow.  In class I read a book about penguins to the kids and let them take notes that they will use for an upcoming paper.

November 14

Friday-             

·         Science- We reviewed weathering and erosion.  Today we focused on physical weather and I did an experiment with the kids using sugar cubes.  No Homework

·       Language Arts-  We watched March of the Penguins and took notes so that we could use them next week for a paper we are going to write.  Homework- Read Newbery Book and start working on the book rept.  Due Dec. 15.
